Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also performs music. She was the first woman within her age bracket to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar, a young rising singer on Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. During the first few years of her life she was split in London New Delhi. At the age of 13, her first show in New Delhi took place. After that, she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising performing and recording careers, even though she's only a teenager. She performs regularly with her dad and has been doing so for many years. Her debut solo album Anourag in 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Her career extends beyond music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka continues to grow on her path and we can expect many other things to be expected from this talented woman. Anoushka spent a lot of her time in London and Delhi throughout her childhood. After that, she moved to California to finish high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in the piano with her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar was at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a variety of valuable experiences as she traveled with her father when he toured the world. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts in addition to making recordings alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of the Asian Arts.
